Alarm Companies in Houston: The Most Recommended, Measured on leading AI assistants

Measured July 2026 · Updated quarterly

This Houston edition started from 66 verified local alarm companies. We then asked leading AI assistants — 4 different ways, 8 checks in July 2026 — and wrote down every company it recommended.

The result is a short list. Just 24 companies — 36% of the cohort — were ever named. Militia Protection LLC led the field, coming up in 7 of the 8 checks.

Behind the leader: Smith Thompson Home Security and Alarm Dallas, then Alert 360. 21 more companies round out the board below.

Houston fielded the 16th-largest cohort of the 34 metros we measured this edition — 66 alarm companies.

The alarm companies AI actually recommends in Houston

24 of Houston's alarm companies made it into an answer. The order is strictly the recommendation count — a company with more reviews does not outrank one that AI named more often.

What we typed to build the Houston alarm list

We ran each of these separately and recorded the names that came back. That tally, and only that tally, sets the order on this page.

What we asked leading AI assistantsCompanies namedIn our Houston cohort
Who is the best alarm company in Houston, Texas?1614
I need an alarm system installed and monitored in Houston, Texas. Who should I hire?127
What is the most recommended alarm company in Houston, Texas?136
What are the top rated alarm companies near Houston, Texas?138

The gap between the two right-hand columns is companies AI named that are not verified Houston-area alarm companies — national brands, directories, out-of-market firms, and names we could not pin to exactly one business. Those are reported here but never ranked.

Houston alarm companies, by the numbers

Every point below is computed from this metro's own run. If a number isn't in the Houston data, it isn't on this page.

  • Repeat recommendations are rare here: only 12 of the 24 ranked names came up more than once.
  • The ranked companies hold 9,275 Google reviews between them.
  • AI's Houston answers pull from the wider metro, including companies in Porter, Plano and Kingwood.
  • Compared with the edition-wide average (39%), Houston's 36% sits below the line.

The silent majority of Houston alarm companies

42 of the 66 Houston-area alarm companies in our cohort were never named in any of the 8 checks. Not once, in any phrasing.

We measured that they were absent — we did not measure why, and this page makes no claim about the quality of anyone's work. A company can run clean installs for twenty years and still never be named. What it means is narrower and more useful: the Houston customers who ask leading AI assistants first are being sent somewhere else.

What it costs is straightforward: the Houston customers who ask an AI first never see these 42 companies at all. They are not ranked lower in the answer — they are absent from it, which is a different problem and a harder one to notice.

How this Houston list is built — and what it is not

The ranking is mechanical. Each mention in an answer is one point, the points are added up, and the order follows. Nothing about a Houston company's size, age, or spending enters the calculation.

Measured, never sold — money cannot buy a spot. We take no payment for placement, accept no submissions, and never reorder a list at a company's request.

Every quarter the same checks run again, unchanged. Positions move between editions, and a Houston company absent today can be ranked in the next one.

Houston alarm company questions, answered

How many Houston alarm companies does AI actually recommend?

24, out of the 66 we verified — 36% of the Houston cohort. Everyone else went unmentioned across all 8 of our July 2026 checks.

What's the most recommended alarm company in Houston right now?

Right now, Militia Protection LLC — recommended in 7 of the 8 checks, with Smith Thompson Home Security and Alarm Dallas next. The order reflects naming frequency in our checks, nothing else.

Which questions produced the Houston rankings?

The same questions real business owners type — including "Who is the best alarm company in Houston, Texas?" and "I need an alarm system installed and monitored in Houston, Texas. Who should I hire?" — and we recorded every company named in the answers. The full set of phrasings is listed on this page.

Can a company pay to be on the Houston list?

No — and that's the point. Rankings are measured, never sold; no payment, sponsorship, or relationship puts a company here. Money cannot buy a place on this list.

My company serves Houston but isn't here — why?

It means AI never named it in our July 2026 checks — nothing more. That says nothing about the quality of the work, only that business owners who ask AI are being sent elsewhere. Most companies haven't shown up in AI answers yet.

Does this cover residential alarms, commercial alarms, or both?

It covers alarm companies generally — burglar alarms and monitoring for homes and for commercial property. Fire alarm inspection and life-safety work is a separate specialty and gets its own board rather than being mixed in here.

Does this tell me which Houston alarm company is cheapest?

No — we never gather pricing, so we can't and won't rank on it. The list tells you which Houston companies AI puts forward; what they charge is a question for them.

Where does the list of 66 Houston alarm companies come from?

We assemble the Houston alarm cohort first — 66 companies verified as operating in the metro — and only then run the checks. Answers are matched back to that fixed list. Anything ambiguous, where a name could plausibly be two different businesses, is excluded instead of assigned.

Where are the national alarm companies on the Houston board?

Nothing in the method favors anyone. We ask a local question — who to call in Houston — and record whatever comes back. The board reflects the answers, so if a national brand isn't on it, that's because AI didn't name it in these checks, not because we filtered it out.

Why build a Houston alarm list out of AI answers?

Because more people now ask an AI assistant for a recommendation before they search or call anyone. When AI answers "who should I call about an alarm system", it gives a handful of names — and in Houston that handful is short. This page is the record of who is in it.
