Independent measurement · July 2026
The commercial security companies AI actually recommends.
Business owners and property managers don't just search anymore — they ask AI who to call. So we measured the answer. We asked for the best fire alarm, access control, security cameras, and commercial security systems companies, 4 different ways each — 532 checks in all — and recorded every company it named.
Only 1 in 7
of the 2,211 commercial security companies we benchmarked ever came up — just 14%. These are the ones businesses are told to call.

We measure four kinds of commercial security work.
A building owner with a fire alarm inspection due, an office manager pricing key-card access, a warehouse owner who wants cameras, and a business owner who needs the whole security system — they ask AI different questions, and it names different companies for each. So each metro page shows up to four separately measured lists: fire alarm, access control, security cameras, and commercial security systems.
The most recommended commercial security companies, metro by metro
Every metro is benchmarked the same way: 4 business-owner-style questions per service, every answer recorded. Pick your city to see the measured lists.
AI's answer moves between checks, so we publish how many of the 4 checks named each one instead of a rank that would change if we asked again.

Measured, never sold.
No security company can pay to appear on these lists. A company is listed only because AI actually recommended it when we asked — more than once. We publish how many of the checks named each one, not a place, because the count holds up when we ask again and a place doesn't. That's the whole formula.
Read the full methodologyCommon questions
How do you measure which U.S. commercial security companies AI recommends?
We ask leading AI assistants the questions real business owners and property managers ask — like "Who should I hire to inspect the fire alarm system in my building?" and "What company should install access control at my office?" — 4 different ways for each type of service (fire alarm, access control, security cameras, and commercial security systems), and record every company it recommends. Each company on a list was named in more than one of those answers, and we publish how many named it rather than a place in a ranking — ask again and the top name often changes, but the count holds. We ran 532 checks for this edition and compared the answers against the 2,211 U.S. commercial security companies in our dataset.
Can a security company pay to be on this list?
No. This list is measured, never sold. A company appears on it only if AI actually recommended it when we asked. Money cannot buy a place on this list. Sponsored blocks are labeled advertising and sit outside the ranked list.
What does it mean if a company is NOT on this list?
It means that when we asked leading AI assistants for a commercial security company in that company's metro, that company never came up. That says nothing about the quality of their work — only that businesses who ask AI for a recommendation are being sent somewhere else. Most companies haven't shown up in AI answers yet, so the lists are short.
How often is this updated?
We re-run the same benchmark quarterly with the same methodology, so companies that improve their AI visibility can appear in the next update. This edition was measured in July 2026.
Before you call anyone
What the work costs, what business owners ask us most, and tools that give you a number in about a minute. Nothing here is a sales page and nothing asks for your phone number.
What things cost
Real price ranges for the work business owners ask about most, with every figure traced back to a named source.
- How much does an access control system cost? What an access control system costs per door on published manufacturer prices, which figures no vendor publishes, and what to make every bidder itemise.
- How much does commercial security system installation cost?Which parts of a commercial security installation have published prices, which have none anywhere, and how to make three quotes comparable.
Do you run a commercial security company?
If your company isn't on these lists, businesses that ask AI for a security company are being sent to someone else. Find out where you stand — free.
